On the very spot where the haylofts, fields and meadows can be seen today, there used to be a village called Križ. Even thought the farmers were rich they were very mean and selfish and would not help anyone. One evening a boy Mihec came to the village. He was cold and hungry. But the only farm that would take him in and help him was the farm in “Robidnica”. It was there that the boy recovered from a severe pneumonia and to express his gratitude he built a big cross, facing the village Orehek. The cross was so big that the weary travelers were able to sleep in its shade. Some time later the plague came to Križ and the people had to flee over the hills where a new village arose, and the people named it Zakriž (behind Križ or literary behind the cross).
